Entrance Hall
This large opening hall is framed by two winding staircases going up to a balcony and hallway beyond. Those in the balcony could easily hear those down below. In the center of the room is a dominating magical map of all Albion with cards displaying jobs for heroes to take. To the north through the main arch and staying straight is the Heroes' Guild Tavern Room, entering to the right will lead to the Quartermaster's and to the left will lead to the Library.

Mikkal swings his blade with mighty effort, the powerful master made weapon slicing through the air. As the White Balvarine ducks under the attack it strikes hard at Mikkal and knocks him back. "DIE YOU ALBINO SIDE DISH!" the Bullwark yells back even as he casts heal to repair what little damage he'd taken.

Two adepts sprint into the foray just as three new balvarines burst through the gaping doors. Immediately they take on the new arrivals but more balvarines can be seen running down the slope from Lookout Point.

Eyes widening as she skids to a halt just inside the entrance, Tuthala frantically brings up as much of a shield as she can before pulling out a long dagger and trying to prepare for the balvarine that is headed her way.

Yates appeared to be heading through to go to sleep, his eyes heavy and pace casual, at least until he runs into the balvarines. His hand immediately falls to his side to draw the live blade at his side. "Just when I was getting home sick." he has time to quip before one of the monsters is on top of him. He slashes at the furry midsection, trying not to end up a snack.

The first adept, a will user, unleases a fury of bolts at the balvarine that charges him. They miss but so too does the monster. The adept quickly leaps out of the way as the creature lunges, causing the balvarine to instead head towards Tuthala. The second adept, a skillful one, fires two arrows from the stairs as he begins to ascend for better advantage. The two arrows find purchase but the balvarine finds it better, swiping the leg from the adept and sending spraying blood raining over the already slippery battlefield.

Mikkal's footing never faulters, part of his earned nickname, as he steps lightly over fallen recruits and adepts. He weaves around the White Balvarines claws and side steps its bites. He leaps over it's lunges and brings his blade down ontop of the beast. It shaves a section of fur from the body, but the balvarine twists mid lunge and gnashes into Mikkal's side, tearing flesh and breaking chain links.

Yates may have drawn first blood against the balvarine he's facing, but it's clear it won't be an easy fight. He almost lands a wound to the creature's face, but it snaps around to lash out, tearing through his uniform and grazing the flesh underneath.

As the balvarine rushes at Tuthala she zips around to get behind her target, eyes trying to stay focused on her attacker but instead flicking around to all the fallen and those still in combat. Her momentary distraction loses her precious moments won by her assassin rush, and when she goes to try and drive her dagger home in the beasts back she finds it is already turning, bringing its jaws down on her blade and raking at her extended arm with it's claws.

The first adept, the will user, doesn't even see the balvarine burst through the door right on top of him. He's torn in half by the beast and his torso is flung up onto the balcony in a huge mass of entrails and sticky slick fluids. The monster begins to chew on the bottom half while yet more creatures break upon the beleagered defenders.

Mikkal pushes off his attack with the White and with a burst of will energy he charges into the gap, pressing an attack on the new balvarines joining. His blade lops the head off the first one, sending its body realing into a wall. His sword takes a deep raking gash accross the chest of the second and then rips open the leg of the third before the White lunges him and he rolls with it, kicking it off and out of the guild's doors.

Yates doesn't have time to appreciate Mikkal's heroics, because if he looks away he'll die. He clearly isn't strong enough to tangle with the balvarine, relying instead on not getting hit. He manages to score a glancing would to the monster's leg, but catches it's claws in the process.

<FS3> Mikkal rolls Berserk: Good Success.

With a shriek, Tuthala tries to pull her weapon free from the balvarine's jaws at it takes another rake at her arm. Reaching out with her off hand she presses it into the beasts face, trying to push at its eyes as she drains the life away from it. The balvarine finally lets go of the blade, but as its essence is drained away, it leans forward, bringing up its claws to her stomach as it regains its balance. Tuthala growls at the pain and stumbles back a step to regain her balance.

"BY AVO'S MIGHTY PINK BRIEFS, DIE BEAST!" Mikkal's voice booms, his berserker power flowing through is body and making him stand almost nine feet tall with shoulders as broad as the entry doors. His battle call echoes back into the hall as his sword blade drives down into the White Balvarine's gullet and literally cuts it in twain. The two halves begin to shrink back into the form of a human, a former hero from the guild even. Mikkal looks on in disgust before he walks back to the front entrance and switches from sword to bow, taking aim on the balvarine chowing down on the legs of the former will user.

Yates can't help but look away as Mikkal's voice echoes throughout the entryway, which causes him to catch claws to to the less scarred side of his face. "Oh FUCK you!" he growls, swiping at the monster's face without gaining much ground.

<FS3> Yates rolls Berserk: Failure.

In an attempt to gain a solid hit, Tuthala rushes around to the beasts other side, dealing a slash before it manages to follow around and bring its claws to bear across her arm as it comes down. Hissing in pain Tuthala tries to find another opening for an attack.

Mikkal's aim is true enough and the arrow punctures an arm, sticking fast. The recruit's own attack seems to be slowly having an affect on the creature and the Residing Hero turns to confront the balvrine toying with Tuthala. "Where's that blasted Sparkle Sparkle Boom Adept when you need him?" An adept returns the question, "Likely meditating on just how to be effectively not here when you need him, sir."

Tuthala shrieks again, dragging her dagger down to find a soft spot between the balvarines ribs, taking the beasts teeth to her shoulder as she leans in to sink the blade home, toppling them both. When she finds enough strength to right herself, the balvarine doesn't follow.

The arrow really seems to piss the weakened balvarine off, and he backhands Yates firmly across the entrail covered ground. And that seems to do it for Yates, the light behind his eyes seems to flick off and then he's on top of the monster, sword forgotten. He catches a set of nasty claws to the midsection, tearing open more than just clothes now, but that doesn't seem to be enough to stop him. Calloused hands wrap firmly around the beast's throat. Clawed hands come up to try and tear the recruit away, but his response is to slam the thing's face into the floor over and over again. It doesn't take long for it to succumb to it's wounds, but Yates doesn't stop. At least until it's turned back into a human once more, but that appears to be all she wrote for the young man, who promptly falls over and loses consciousness.

The Bullwark, in perfect hero stride, walks right up the gorging mongrel and skewers him to the floor. The writhing claws have a chance to lash out and slash into Mikkal's leg, causing the man to grit his teeth a little more. "Get as many will users as you can to fix that door and empty the reserves for resources. We need stronger front defenses." a pause, "I'm officially sealing the Guild Entrance, no one in or out until this balvarine issue is handled. Now clean up this mess, I have to go meet with some rather impetuous miscreants about what just happened." he hefts his blade up and walks forward, the balvarine dragging along until it plops off with a thick wet schlick.
